Fulham FC is a football club based in London, founded in 1879 and playing their home matches at Craven Cottage. The club has become well-known not only for its performances on the pitch, but also for its strong fan base and history. Fulham FC was founded in 1879 as St. Andrew's Church Sunday School FC, and later renamed to Fulham FC. The club played its first matches on local pitches, but in 1896 moved to Craven Cottage, where they have played ever since. Over the years, the club has experienced many successes, but also many failures. In 2001, the club reached the Premier League, but were relegated after just one season back to the Championship. In 2018, the club returned to the Premier League, where they played until 2021, when they were relegated once again. Fulham FC has a large fan base, which has manifested itself in many ways over the years. The club's biggest rivals are local clubs such as Chelsea FC, Queens Park Rangers, and Brentford FC. The derbies between Fulham and QPR are very intense and are known as the "West London Derby". On the other hand, relations between Fulham and Chelsea are relatively friendly and they often meet in international tournaments. Fulham FC plays its home matches at Craven Cottage, which is located on the banks of the River Thames. The stadium is very picturesque and offers excellent views of the river. Craven Cottage has a capacity of approximately 25,700 seated spectators and was built in 1896. The stadium has undergone many renovations and upgrades, but still retains its historic look. Fulham FC is considered one of the most successful clubs in English football, despite never having won the English league. Its greatest successes include finishing second in the Premier League in 2009-2010, reaching the UEFA Europa League final in 2010, and winning the English Cup in 1975. |
