Tip: Bayern Munich to win
Bayern Munich enter the match against Werder Bremen in complete dominance, having already scored 18 goals in four league games, a new Bundesliga record. Harry Kane shone last weekend with a hat-trick against Hoffenheim and with eight league goals he confirms his role as the team’s main star under Kompany. Although the attack is firing, Bayern’s defense has shown weaknesses, conceding six goals already, which could be a problem in tougher fixtures against Frankfurt and Dortmund. At home, however, Bayern look unstoppable – they have won all three matches at the Allianz Arena with a total score of 14:1. Werder Bremen, on the other hand, are struggling defensively, ranking among the worst in the league with 10 goals conceded, and despite their ability to keep possession, they lack efficiency in front of goal. Offensively they can rely on Romano Schmid or Marco Grull, but against Bayern that will hardly be enough. History speaks clearly – Werder have lost the last seven head-to-head clashes, often by heavy margins. Despite some defensive flaws, Bayern should once again confirm their strength at home.
Tip: Augsburg to win
Heidenheim sit at the very bottom of the table and are still waiting for their first league point of the season. Despite showing improvement against Hamburg last weekend with 20 shots and almost three expected goals, finishing remains a major problem. Coach Frank Schmidt also has to deal with the absence of striker Budu Zivzivadze, who remains suspended after his red card. The attacking responsibility will therefore fall mainly on Mikkel Kaufmann, with Arijon Ibrahimovic and Sirlord Conteh supporting from wide areas. Augsburg are only slightly better off results-wise, but three straight league defeats have exposed their defensive fragility. The collapse against Mainz, where they conceded twice even with a man advantage, was a huge disappointment. Fabian Rieder should be the key creative force for the visitors, while Alexis Claude-Maurice is expected to lead the line. Given the struggles of both teams, a tight contest can be expected, but Augsburg’s superior attacking quality should be enough to secure a narrow win.
Tip: Borussia Dortmund to win
Mainz bounced back with a 4-1 win over Augsburg, but they now face an opponent of an entirely different caliber. Dortmund under Niko Kovac look very compact, with three clean sheets in four league matches and an overall stability in their performances. Their attacking power is spread across Serhou Guirassy, Karim Adeyemi and Max Beier, making them a constant threat. Mainz rely on the creativity of Kaishu Sano and the experience of Nadiem Amiri, but the suspension of Dominik Kohr weakens their midfield. Although Mainz have caused Dortmund problems in recent seasons and even won two of the last five meetings, the visitors currently look far more convincing. Dortmund are highly motivated to keep pace with Bayern before their head-to-head clash in October. If they maintain their defensive discipline and repeat their controlled performance against Wolfsburg, where they barely allowed a chance, they should come away with all three points.
Tip: Double chance – draw or Leverkusen to win
St. Pauli are enjoying an excellent start to the season by their standards, with seven points from four matches – a much better return than at the same stage last year. Alexander Blessin has given the team a clear identity built on attacking courage and quick transitions, which has especially shown in their home games. Against Stuttgart, however, they failed to score for the first time, exposing defensive limitations. Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, are going through a turbulent period following the early dismissal of Erik ten Hag. New coach Kasper Hjulmand has brought more calmness, but the team is still finding its rhythm. Patrik Schick remains their main attacking threat, supported by the creative duo Tillman and Ben Seghir. The visitors’ advantage lies in their deeper squad and greater big-game experience, although they have struggled away from home in recent months. With strong home support, St. Pauli could push them hard. Therefore, a very balanced encounter is expected where efficiency in front of goal will decide the outcome.
Tip: RB Leipzig to win
Wolfsburg showed some defensive resilience against Dortmund, but the lack of attacking quality was obvious – they failed to record a single shot on target. Their long-term issue remains their home form, as they have gone ten competitive matches without a win at Volkswagen Arena. Coach Paul Simonis relies on striker Amoura and captain Maximilian Arnold, but the squad lacks depth. RB Leipzig, on the other hand, look confident after three straight wins and have been deadly from set pieces, as seen in their last victory over Cologne. The defense with Orban and Lukeba is solid, while the attack is fueled by the pace of Bakayoko and the creativity of Baumgartner. Leipzig need to keep close to the top of the table and will be determined to confirm their role as favorites. Wolfsburg will fight, but if they repeat their toothless attacking display, Leipzig should have a clear path to victory.
Tip: Eintracht Frankfurt to win
Borussia Mönchengladbach endured a tough start to the season, but the arrival of interim coach Eugen Polanski has brought the first signs of improvement. The draw at Leverkusen thanks to Tabakovic’s late equalizer was an important psychological moment, as it also marked their first goal of the campaign. However, numerous injuries in attack – Kleindienst, Hack and N’Goumou are all out – heavily limit their options. Frankfurt, on the other hand, have lost their last two league games, most recently a wild 4-3 defeat against Union Berlin, but overall they still have greater quality. Dino Toppmöller must tighten the defense after conceding four at home, which is unacceptable for a team with Champions League ambitions. In attack, they can rely on Elye Wahi as their main weapon against Gladbach’s weakened defense. The hosts will hope to use the support of their fans, but their attacking potential is currently very restricted. Frankfurt’s deeper squad and stronger individuals in key positions should be enough to secure an away win.
Tip: Freiburg to win
Freiburg will arrive at the Europa-Park Stadion in good spirits after two consecutive league wins and a successful Europa League opener against Basel. Julian Schuster’s side has shown strong attacking form, scoring in 13 consecutive Bundesliga matches – their longest streak since 2010. They also excel from set pieces, having scored four goals from dead-ball situations already, and look confident going forward. While the defense has stabilized after early struggles, opponents are still able to create chances. The experienced centre-back duo of Ginter and Lienhart will be key, while Lucas Holer could play an important role in attack. Hoffenheim, meanwhile, are trying to recover quickly from their heavy 4-1 defeat to Bayern, continuing their pattern of alternating wins and losses at the start of the season. Coach Christian Ilzer faces injury problems, most notably the absence of Adam Hlozek until December. Even so, Hoffenheim retain attacking strength – Asllani and Lemperle can cause problems, and they regularly score on the road. Their poor record against Freiburg, however, is worrying, with six defeats in the last eight meetings. Unless they find balance between attack and defense, Freiburg look to have the upper hand.
Tip: Stuttgart to win
The RheinEnergieStadion will host an intriguing battle between two sides who have started the season surprisingly strong in the race for the upper half of the table. Newly promoted Koln began with two wins, including a commanding 4-1 victory over Freiburg, but were quickly brought back down to earth with a 3-1 loss against RB Leipzig after conceding three goals before half-time. Their attack remains a strength – among the most productive in the Bundesliga – and they will count on their home support. However, defensive frailties are evident, particularly with Rav van den Berg and Luca Kilian sidelined. Stuttgart, on the other hand, are enjoying a strong run under Sebastian Hoeness, with five wins from their last six games across all competitions. Recent victories over St. Pauli and Celta Vigo showcased their quality, with Bilal El Khannouss emerging as a creative force. Despite attacking injuries to Undav, Diehl and Silas, Ermedin Demirovic has led the line well, supported by Tomas and Leweling on the flanks. Their away record is also excellent, and even with defensive absences, Stuttgart look well organized. Koln can be dangerous at home, but Stuttgart’s form and momentum make them favorites here.
Tip: Union Berlin to win
Union Berlin are seeking consistency after a mixed start to the season, alternating strong attacking displays with defensive lapses. Their 4-3 win over Frankfurt highlighted both their offensive firepower and defensive vulnerability, especially after the break, where they have already conceded seven goals. Coach Steffen Baumgart has instilled a high-energy style that produces goals but also risks exposure at the back. At the Alte Försterei, Union are not unbeatable, but the atmosphere provides them with an edge. Key players like Danilho Doekhi and Andrej Ilic will be important in bringing stability and efficiency against Hamburg. For Hamburger SV, life back in the Bundesliga has been challenging. Their win against Heidenheim provided valuable points, but defensively they remain fragile, conceding too many high-quality chances. Coach Merlin Polzin is still shaping his team’s identity, but results so far suggest a relegation battle rather than mid-table security. The potential absence of Yussuf Poulsen would be a major blow to their attack. On the road, Hamburg have lacked consistency, and while dangerous on the counter, Union’s greater quality should prevail if they minimize errors at the back.
