Tip: Strasbourg or Draw (1X)
Strasbourg have started the new season in impressive fashion and have not conceded a single goal at home so far. Liam Rosenior’s side rely on a strong collective spirit and patient play, which pays off especially in the final minutes – four of their winning goals have come after the 80th minute. Their defence at Stade de la Meinau has been rock solid, and another clean sheet would mark their best streak since 2022. Young talent Kendry Páez recently scored his first Ligue 1 goal, while Emanuel Emegha has the ability to decide tight matches. On the other side, Marseille earned a valuable win over PSG but continue to struggle away from home. Roberto De Zerbi can count on players like Mason Greenwood, Amine Gouiri and Benjamin Pavard, yet their poor away form remains a concern. Another defeat would mean three consecutive away losses, something OM will want to avoid. Strasbourg, however, will sense a big opportunity to repeat last year’s home success against OM.
Tip: Monaco to Win
Lorient managed to grab a point at Le Havre, which can be seen as a step forward after heavy defeats in previous rounds. Still, they remain in the relegation zone and their defence looks shaky, as highlighted by the 7-1 collapse against Lille. At home, however, they can be dangerous, with the 4-0 win over Rennes still fresh in memory. Striker Tosin Aiyegun, with three goals, has been their biggest attacking threat. Monaco, meanwhile, continue to impress, smashing Metz 5-2 last time out, with Ansu Fati in sparkling form. George Ilenikhena and Aleksandr Golovin provide additional attacking quality, and while Monaco can be inconsistent away from home, their strong record against newly promoted teams works in their favour – unbeaten in 12 such matches. Adi Hütter’s side also have the resilience to come from behind, collecting more points from losing positions than anyone else in Ligue 1 this year. Lorient may try to fight, but the quality gap between the squads is clear.
Tip: Draw or Nantes (X2)
Toulouse’s start to the season has been disappointing, and the loss at Auxerre – despite playing with a man advantage for over 25 minutes – was a major setback. Coach Carles Martínez favours quick attacking football, but his team have lost their last three matches in Ligue 1. Youngsters like Louis Leroux are trying to add creativity, but efficiency in front of goal remains an issue. Nantes, on the other hand, showed fighting spirit by coming back from two goals down against Rennes, with veteran Youssef El-Arabi scoring his first Ligue 1 goal in over 14 years. Their problem lies away from home, where they have yet to score this season and continue a worrying trend from last year. History, however, favours them – Nantes are unbeaten in Toulouse since 2019 and often manage organised performances there. If Junior Mwanga can add more firepower alongside El-Arabi, Nantes could return with points. A close game is expected, with small details likely to decide the outcome.
Tip: PSG to Win
PSG suffered a bitter defeat in Marseille, ending their perfect start and reminding everyone that even a star-studded squad can falter. Luis Enrique, recently named Coach of the Year, now faces a test of character to get his side back on track. Much will depend on the fitness of Ousmane Dembélé, fresh Ballon d’Or winner, whose creativity was badly missed on the right flank. Achraf Hakimi has looked solid in defence, but mistakes such as Marquinhos’ own goal can cost them dearly. At the Parc des Princes, though, PSG remain dominant – unbeaten in 35 league matches at home and yet to concede this season. Auxerre earned a gritty win over Toulouse despite being reduced to 10 men, but their away record is poor, and frequent red cards could prove fatal against such quality opposition. Captain Elisha Owusu brings energy in midfield, but going up against Vitinha, Warren Zaïre-Emery and Kylian Mbappé is a huge challenge. History also favours the Parisians, with Auxerre’s last win in Paris dating back to 2010.
Tip: Nice to win
An interesting clash awaits on the French Riviera as Nice host newly promoted Paris FC. The hosts, after a bright start, have stumbled with back-to-back defeats, conceding four second-half goals against Brest last time out. Still, Allianz Riviera has been a fortress – six clean sheets already this year and a perfect record against Paris FC. Striker Terem Moffi remains the key attacking threat and will be expected to deliver after a disappointing away performance. Paris FC bring energy and attacking intent, but their defensive record is poor with 12 goals conceded, the second-worst in the league. Players like Moses Simon and Nouha Dicko can trouble defenses, yet their backline weaknesses often undo their work. The historical record is also against them, with no away victories at Nice. Given the home strength and Paris FC’s flaws, the expectation is that Nice will take all three points.
Tip: Brest or draw (X2)
At Stade Raymond Kopa, two sides from the lower half of the table meet as both search for consistency. Angers have looked organized defensively, conceding only four goals in five games, but their attack is lacking with just three goals scored. Coach Alexandre Dujeux relies on defensive solidity, though fans want more creativity from players such as Justin Kalumba or Lilian Raolisoa. Brest, meanwhile, showcased their attacking power in a 4-1 win over Nice, with a strong second-half display. Eric Roy will be pleased with his forwards’ efficiency and quick transitions. The head-to-head record also favors Brest, who have won four of the last five meetings with Angers. While the hosts will aim to bounce back after losing to Lyon, Brest arrive in good form and confidence. The absence of key attacking options for Angers could prove decisive.
Tip: Draw or Lille (1X)
At Stade Pierre-Mauroy, one of the weekend’s top fixtures pits attacking-minded Lille against defensively solid Lyon. Lille failed to score for the first time this season in a 0-3 defeat to Lens and will look to respond quickly at home. Bruno Genesio’s side rarely drop points on their own turf and often decide matches late on with sustained pressure. Jonathan David and Edon Zhegrova will be the men to watch in attack. Lyon, under Jorge Maciel, have built success on defensive discipline with five clean sheets in six competitive games. Veteran Corentin Tolisso and goalkeeper Dominik Greif have been crucial to their stability. While Lyon’s away form is inconsistent, they have regularly picked up points in Lille. The clash of Lille’s attack and Lyon’s defense promises a balanced and tactical encounter.
Tip: Metz to win
Metz are still waiting for their first win, and despite scoring twice at Monaco, they collapsed late and lost 5-2. Concentration in the final stages and a leaky defense, with 13 goals conceded already, are their biggest weaknesses. Yet they still have quality, with experienced forward Habib Diallo capable of troubling any backline. Captain Gauthier Hein converted a penalty last time out and continues to lead by example. Le Havre, meanwhile, are organized but lack cutting edge, with players like Issa Soumaré and Rassoul N’Diaye showing flashes without consistent end product. History does not favor them either – they have not beaten Metz away in Ligue 1 since 1996. This could be a cautious contest with both sides wary of mistakes, but Metz’s home advantage and desperation for a first win may finally see them prevail.
Tip: Lens or draw (X2)
Rennes host Lens in a battle of mid-table sides with ambitions for Europe. Rennes squandered a two-goal lead against Nantes last time out, underlining defensive issues that have seen them concede eight goals in five matches. Still, they have attacking talent in Ludovic Blas, who scored from the spot, and summer signing Esteban Lepaul, who opened his account. Lens, meanwhile, impressed in a 3-0 win over Lille, reminding everyone of their attacking firepower. Florian Thauvin and Wesley Said bring flair and goals, while goalkeeper Robin Risser earned a clean sheet with some strong saves. The historical record heavily favors Lens, unbeaten in their last ten against Rennes. While Rennes can count on home support, Lens currently look the more balanced and confident side. Expect an open and entertaining match where Lens have the slight edge.
