Polish Ekstraklasa Matchday 8 Preview (September 12–15, 2025) – 12.-15.9. 2025

Lechia Gdańsk vs GKS Katowice (12.09.2025, 18:00)

Tip: Both Teams to Score (BTTS)

Lechia Gdańsk enters this clash after a difficult start to the season, during which they had to erase a five-point deduction, but now they have a chance to truly start their chase for the rest of the league. Their home form is solid – five wins in their last eight league matches clearly show that Gdańsk is not an easy place for visiting teams. However, their defense remains an issue, as they concede more than two goals per game on average, which was evident in recent rounds. GKS Katowice come boosted by a 3–2 victory over Radomiak and their attack is slowly finding rhythm – Bartosz Nowak is one of the most dangerous players in the league in terms of shots on target. Statistics show that Lechia’s matches average over 4.4 goals per game this season, which suggests another high-scoring encounter. Both teams have players capable of deciding the game with individual brilliance – for Lechia, it is mainly Tomas Bobček. We can expect an open game with plenty of goal-scoring opportunities on both sides. That is why BTTS looks like the most logical choice here.

Lech Poznań vs Zagłębie Lubin (12.09.2025, 20:30)

Tip: Lech Poznań to Win

Lech Poznań returns to league action after a challenging period spent competing in European cups and now needs to fully focus on the domestic competition. At the end of the transfer window, they strengthened their attack with Yannick Agnero and Taofeek Ismaheel, which could add a new spark to the team. Lech have an impressive record, having scored in 18 consecutive league matches, and they are traditionally very strong at home. Zagłębie Lubin are offensively productive, but their defense is a weakness – they concede 1.67 goals per game on average and have yet to keep a clean sheet. The main threat to the hosts will be Leonardo Rocha, who is capable of punishing any defensive lapse, but Kolejorz have enough experience to keep him quiet. Lech have won three of the last five home meetings with this opponent and will be keen to extend that record. A victory could move them closer to the top of the table and restore confidence after their European disappointments. Given their motivation and squad quality, a home win seems the most likely outcome.

Korona Kielce vs Pogoń Szczecin (13.09.2025, 14:45)

Tip: Draw

Korona Kielce are one of the biggest surprises of the early season, as after two opening defeats they went on a five-match unbeaten run and were the league’s best-scoring team in August. At home, they have won their last two matches without conceding and will want to extend this streak. Pogoń Szczecin have recovered from a shaky start and won two in a row, including an important victory over Raków. For coach Robert Kolendowicz, this match is crucial for his job security, as there was significant fan pressure after the departure of key striker Kolouris. Korona can rely on Dawid Błanik in attack, who has scored four goals in his last four matches, while the visitors will look to experienced Kamil Grosicki to inspire them. The head-to-head record is fairly balanced, but Korona have not beaten Pogoń at home since 2016, which represents a big challenge for the hosts. The game promises to be a real battle, as both teams are in good form and hungry for points. A draw seems like the most realistic result.

Wisła Płock vs Cracovia (13.09.2025, 17:30)

Tip: Wisła Płock to Win

Wisła Płock will try to maintain their position at the top of the table after the international break, as they could lose first place if they fail to win. Before the break, they saw their unbeaten run end with a 0–1 defeat to Arka Gdynia, which was only their third setback in 2025. However, their home stadium has been a fortress this season – they have not dropped a single point there so far. Cracovia are dangerous away from home, having already scored six goals on the road, but their defense can be inconsistent and allows opponents chances. Wisła will be without their top scorer Łukasz Sekulski, yet they still have enough attacking firepower to put the visitors under pressure. Iban Salvador could play a key role, having scored three goals in his last six appearances. Cracovia have Filip Stojilković, who has been involved in six goals this season, but they are less clinical away from home. Given Wisła’s home strength and current form, they look likely to take all three points.

Piast Gliwice vs Jagiellonia Białystok (13.09.2025, 20:15)

Tip: Jagiellonia to Win

Piast Gliwice continue to struggle – in the last round they scored their first goal of the season, but it was only enough for a 2–2 draw with Zagłębie, which marked their 31st draw in the last 73 league matches. Coach Max Mölder is under increasing pressure as his team sit second-from-bottom and urgently need to start picking up points. Jagiellonia, on the other hand, are in fantastic form – since their opening-day 0–4 defeat to Bruk-Bet, they are unbeaten and have the league’s longest winning streak (4). The arrival of Kamil Jóźwiak adds extra creativity on the wing and could further improve their attacking play. The star man is Jesús Imaz, who has scored four goals and traditionally enjoys playing against Piast. Statistically, Piast have the highest passing accuracy in the opponent’s half, but they lack efficiency in finishing – with only 11 shots on target, the fewest in the league. Jaga have the highest points-per-game average (2.4) and are capable of deciding matches late, having scored four goals after the 75th minute. Given their form and squad quality, Jagiellonia are favorites and should take all three points from Gliwice.

Motor Lublin vs Bruk-Bet Termalica (14.09.2025, 12:15)

Tip: Under 2.5 Goals

Motor Lublin have been very solid defensively at home, keeping three consecutive clean sheets in the Ekstraklasa. Their last three league matches have produced only three goals in total, highlighting their cautious style of play. Bruk-Bet Termalica, meanwhile, are strong away from home and have scored in five straight games, but they rarely win by big margins. This is the first-ever top-flight meeting between these teams, and both will approach it carefully, especially Motor who will not want to lose in front of their home crowd. Expect a tactical, low-scoring contest where one goal might decide the outcome.

Legia Warszawa vs Radomiak Radom (14.09.2025, 14:45)

Tip: Legia to Win

Legia will look to bounce back after two consecutive league defeats and will be boosted by new arrivals such as Urbański and Colak. Despite some turbulence in the squad, they have a strong home defensive record, conceding just eight goals in ten matches at Łazienkowska in 2025. Radomiak have gone four games without a win and remain without an away victory since March, which adds to their challenge. Legia have the individual quality to break them down, with Rajović in good form and likely to lead the attack. A focused performance should see Legia claim all three points and stop their losing streak.

Widzew Łódź vs Arka Gdynia (14.09.2025, 17:30)

Tip: Both Teams to Score (BTTS)

Widzew are desperate to stop their three-match losing streak but have been more reliable at home, winning three of their last five competitive matches in Łódź. The arrival of Andi Zeqiri could provide a boost to their attack. Arka have collected just one point in four away games this season, but their shock win over league leaders Wisła Płock last time out should give them confidence. Both teams have defensive weaknesses, with Widzew conceding in six of seven league matches and Arka keeping only two clean sheets. This should be a tense but open game where goals on both sides are very likely.

Raków Częstochowa vs Górnik Zabrze (15.09.2025, 19:00)

Tip: Over 2.5 Goals

Raków are looking to climb out of the relegation zone and have made offensive reinforcements to address their poor scoring record. Playing at home, they will push for three points after three defeats in their last four league matches. Górnik are a very streaky team this season, winning every game where they scored first but losing all three when conceding first. Both sides have shown vulnerability in defence, with Raków conceding seven of nine goals after the break and Górnik failing to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five away matches. The game could open up in the second half, so over 2.5 goals looks like a good choice.
