Tip: Double chance Bologna or draw
After winning the Coppa Italia, Bologna did not start the new season ideally, as they lost 1-0 away to AS Roma and also lost two important players due to injury. Coach Vincenzo Italiano therefore has to deal with the absence of Immobile and Casale right from the start, which significantly limits his options in both attack and defense. Although Bologna traditionally has a very good record against Como at their home stadium, their league form is currently poor – the team has lost four competitive matches in a row. The hosts will therefore mainly rely on the creativity of Orsolini, who has been in great form in recent months and regularly scores. On the other side, Como is experiencing euphoria after their 2-0 triumph over Lazio, where Nico Paz shone with a free-kick goal and an assist. Coach Cesc Fabregas also brought in reinforcements such as Morata and Rodriguez, which shows the high ambitions of the Lombardy club. For the visitors, this is an opportunity to confirm that they are not just a 'paper' surprise, but that they can also pick up points away from home. The match promises an interesting contrast between Bologna’s tradition and Como’s rise, with the hosts being slight favorites thanks to their experience and home advantage.
Tip: Atalanta to win
Parma did not start well after returning to Serie A, as they lost 2-0 away to Juventus, even though their performance was not entirely poor. New coach Carlos Cuesta made his debut as the third-youngest manager in Serie A history, but immediately learned the harsh reality of the top flight. The hosts are also struggling with absences in attack – Bonny left for Inter and his replacement Frigan is out with a long-term injury. Atalanta failed to beat newly promoted Pisa and only drew 1-1, but under Ivan Jurić the team has a quality squad and experience from the Champions League. Gianluca Scamacca scored right after his return from injury and should be a key man up front. The Bergamo side also has an excellent away record, winning eight of their last nine away league matches. History is also on their side, as they traditionally do well at the Tardini stadium. Parma will try to rely on fighting spirit and young players, but the difference in quality between the two teams is clear. Therefore, it can be expected that Atalanta will not slip this time and will take all three points.
Tip: AS Roma to win
Roma started the season with a narrow win over Bologna and new coach Gian Piero Gasperini thus began his tenure successfully. The team was strengthened by striker Evan Ferguson, who was preferred over Dovbyk, and it is clear that the Giallorossi now have more options in attack. Pisa returned to Serie A after a long 34 years and immediately surprised with a 1-1 draw away at Atalanta. New coach Alberto Gilardino confirmed that his team will be combative and capable of troubling some favorites. However, against AS Roma, Pisa is the clear underdog, and in the past they have significantly struggled against this opponent. Roma looks more compact, and Gasperini has brought energy and an emphasis on pressing, which causes problems for opponents. The home side can rely on strong fan support, but the difference in quality and experience is significant. If Roma build on their solid start and take their chances, they should leave Tuscany with three points.
Tip: Juventus to win
Juventus started the season with a 2-0 win over Parma, with new signings David and Vlahović both getting on the scoresheet. Coach Igor Tudor built on last season’s good work and the Bianconeri look confident. Genoa drew 0-0 with Lecce, despite creating several chances, showing improvement under Patrick Vieira. The home side strengthened over the summer with interesting names such as Carboni and Stanciu, but lost their top scorer Pinamonti. Juventus has not only quality on their side but also a long-term excellent record against Genoa, whom they beat twice last season without conceding a goal. In the last 10 head-to-head meetings, they have lost only once, showing clear dominance. Vieira’s team will rely on the support of Marassi and their fighting spirit, but the offensive power lies with the visitors. If Juve can stay focused and build on their solid defensive performance, they should confirm their role as favorites. This match is a good opportunity to secure important points early in the season and set a winning streak.
Tip: Draw
Fiorentina comes into this match after a 1-1 draw away at Cagliari and progression in the Conference League, where veteran Edin Džeko also found the net. Under coach Stefano Pioli, the team is still looking for optimal form, especially in defense where they concede too often. Moise Kean is ready to return and should be the main attacking weapon, as he has a strong scoring record against Torino. The home side Torino had a tough start, losing 5-0 to Inter and exposing major defensive weaknesses. Coach Marco Baroni is new at the helm and needs to earn the trust of the fans, so he will emphasize organization. Historically, matches between these two clubs are fairly balanced, although Fiorentina has had the upper hand in recent seasons. Torino are not particularly convincing at home, but with fan support, they could trouble the visitors. Given the form and current situation of both teams, a draw seems the most likely result.
Tip: Inter to win
Inter started the season impressively, crushing Torino 5-0 and showcasing their attacking strength across the lineup. New coach Cristian Chivu enjoyed a dream debut on the bench, with the team looking compact and very efficient. Goals from Thuram, Lautaro, and newcomer Bonny confirmed the breadth of their attacking options. Inter also holds a six-game winning streak against Udinese, with the last three matches handled comfortably. The visitors only drew 1-1 with Hellas Verona in the opening round, but overall have won just one of their last twelve league games, highlighting ongoing issues. Coach Kosta Runjaić also has a difficult position – his team regularly loses away at Inter, with their last eight visits to San Siro all ending in defeat. Udinese are also weakened by the absence of goalkeeper Okoye, which further hurts their defense. Inter, on the other hand, looks strong and has the squad depth to handle a demanding schedule ahead of the Champions League. Everything suggests the hosts will follow up their opening round win and secure another three points.
Tip: Lazio to win
Lazio disappointed in the opening round, losing 2-0 away at Como and showing major problems in defense and organization. The return of coach Maurizio Sarri therefore did not start well, increasing the pressure on his team. Lazio also has a poor record at their home ground – winning only one of their last twelve league matches at the Stadio Olimpico. Nevertheless, the Romans possess great quality, especially in attack with Castellanos and Zaccagni, who can decide the match. Verona, on the other hand, began the season with a 1-1 draw away at Udinese, where captain Serdar scored. Coach Paolo Zanetti knows, however, that a trip to Lazio will be a much tougher test, as historically they almost never take points there. Hellas have won in Rome only once in their last 17 league visits, which clearly favors the hosts. Lazio desperately needs a win to calm the atmosphere and boost confidence, and against Verona, they have the ideal opportunity to bounce back. If the hosts repeat their usual attacking standard, they should be able to handle the match.
